“Being brave is when you have to do something because you know it is right, but at the same time, you are afraid to do it, because it might hurt or whatever. But you do it anyway.” ― Meg Cabot, All-American Girl
They aren’t famous or rich, they haven’t battled some critical disease nor have they saved a puppy from drowning. One can find these brave people in the most ordinary of the millions of faceless sea of people passing by you every day.
You can see this brave one in a well dressed man feeding his old mother, in a mother holding the heavy school bag of her daughter while dropping her off to school/bus stop, in a brother who holds his little brother’s hand while crossing the road, in a stranger who pays for an extra coconut water for a hungry child.
They maybe silent or loud. They don’t even realize how brave they are to be fighting & accepting life as it is. Life with all of its happiness, soul crushing experiences, problems & heart breaks. They are the ones who listen to issues, rants & stories of their loved ones & sometimes strangers. They silently support you & ensure that you are alright without thinking twice about them-selves. They celebrate your wins & cry with you when you fail. They support you till the end of time without expecting anything in return.
They give even when they don’t have anything to give.
They can just listen to a syllable in your voice to know if you are upset or happy. They know when you are hiding your tears in that smile; they know when you need a beer & when you need a laugh.
They are the ones who may have a lot of acquaintances & friends but they love very few & whoever they choose to love, they love without conditions & they love even though they know the person they love, has the power to crush & stomp on their heart & give it back to them. But they love anyway.
If someone breaks their heart, they will be sad for a little while but they won’t let that experience build walls around their hearts & they will love again. No matter what, they would always choose love over fear & failure.
These Brave Ones know what their limitations are but they don’t let those come in the way of living a life they envisioned. They may have dreams that may not seem big enough but they achieve what they set their mind to. Even if it is as small as writing a Blog Post every month or not eating that bag of chips. Slowly, they reach where they always dreamed they wanted to be & then start to dream bigger.
If you look close enough, you will find that this Brave One exists in each & every one of us. There maybe days when you might forget that he is around & that’s the day you need to befriend it once again…
“It is not the strength of the body that counts, but the strength of the spirit.” (― J.R.R. Tolkien)
