“May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.” ― Neil Gaiman
It’s that wonderful time of the year when every one, black or white, a Hindu or an Atheist, a 10 year something or a 100 year something celebrates. It is this special time of the year when the whole world is filled with love, glitter & cheer (& also some drunken 20 year some things’ puking on the streets :-P).
One can view a flood of people at the Gym and traffic on the pavement blocked by people running or walking, or notice a bunch of them working at shelters helping the poor, old & the weak. Different Non-Profit Organizations witness a rush of cash flow & one even gets a glimpse of a twinkle in the eyes of little children on the streets that get discarded toys & clothes. Bookstores experience a hike in book sales & several libraries get new memberships. Telecom companies make an exorbitant profit. Some may even spot many Fathers at the park or slaving away in the kitchen & Mothers getting a manicure. Many make resolutions to make babies or adopt one. Some decide to switch jobs or leave their current one to follow their dreams. Some plan a vacation with families & some decide to visit their home town to surprise their parents or grand-parents.
It is during this time when one can appreciate the true “Unity in Diversity”. There is no division in classes, gender or religion. It is the time of the year when everyone’s lives are filled with hope & new dreams. It’s that time of the year when old couples kiss at the stroke of midnight & some others fall in love.
It’s that time of the year when people let go of the past, bad memories & strive to become the best version of themselves. It’s at this time when one can truly visualize World Peace. It’s now when you can see everyone being their True Self & doing what they were supposed to be doing all along. There is a beautiful glow on most faces (sometimes because of the splurge at the SPA: P) which lights up the streets brighter than the street lights.
It’s that time of the year when Fairy tales are real, there are Unicorns running on Rainbows & Dragons are slain.
What I wish this New Year, is that this Magical place exists the entire year & gets more beautiful as the days pass. I wish that we choose to be vulnerable & always opt for Love over Fear.
This Pragmatic Dreamer wishes you a very Happy new Year!
“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.
So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.” ― Neil Gaiman
